In 2009 Arts Sonoma 09-Beyond your Expectations attempted, with great success, to bring attention to the arts sector of Sonoma County through giving exposure, not only to the wealth of events already planned by organizations and individuals of the arts in the county, but also to some of the more off center acts and artists creating works and performances that brought the arts closer to the community and into places and locations that surprised. Well...we're doing it again.

........the participants are, for the greater part, Sonoma County residents. Where artists from outside the county are participating, those artists have either a strong bond or association with the county. Many renowned artists from all disciplines reside in this part of the North Bay but don’t necessarily perform and show in the county. The area is a magnet for creativity and we aim to show it off!

........the range of artistry encompasses Classical Music, both symphonic and Chamber, Modern Music of all styles, from Hip Hop to Jazz, Rock and Blues, Poetry and Story Telling, Theatre and Improv and many disciplines of dance. Also included are contributions from film makers and producers. Performance Art, in its many surprising forms, takes center stage many times during the Festival period.This year we continue the mix of "The Norm" and "The Not So Norm" with

........events take place in all four corners of the county. A lot of Sonoma County is rural and, of course, the county is a major component of California’s Wine Country. Please take this opportunity to enjoy not only the artistic offerings of the county but also it’s scenic beauty and gustatory delights. We are renowned for our wine and our world class culinary offerings, plus a plethora of hotels and lodging house to suit all tastes and pockets.

........the theme of the festival is that what goes on in Sonoma County arts is an event in itself. It’s just that it goes on year round and sometimes get’s lost in the daily trudge. We have divided the disciplines somewhat arbitrarily and color coded them. This coding applies to this site and to the accompanying Program Guide. Events will be listed daily, as they come in on this site -artssonoma.com and sonomaarts.com. Where an event is outside of a city we list the nearest city as a geographic marker.
